
Does Pedia-lax work?
Pedia-lax (docusate salts or dioctyl sulfosuccinate) is used for a short time to treat occasional constipation. It is an osmotic-type laxative that thought to work by drawing water into the intestines, an effect that helps to cause movement of the intestines.
Pedia-lax is also used to treat symptoms caused by too much stomach acid such as
- heartburn,
- upset stomach, or
- indigestion.
Pedia-lax is an antacid that does working by reducing the mass of acid in the stomach.
Pedia-lax is available in the market in different forms such as liquid, tablet, powder, Suppositories, & enema.
How to use Pedia-lax

Overdose of Pedia-lax
Overdose of Pedia-lax for constipation may result in
- persistent diarrhea,
- loss of too much body water (dehydration), and
- mineral imbalances
- trouble breathing
- mental/mood changes (e.g., confusion)
- slow/irregular heartbeat decreased
- urination,
- dizziness.
If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center fast.
United States citizen can call their local poison control center at this number( 1-800-222-1222).
Canada residents can call a provincial poison control center.

Side Effects of Pedia-lax
If the Dr. has a guide you to use this laxative, remember that Dr. has felt that the benefit to you is greater than the hazard of side effects. A lot of people using this laxative don’t have serious side effects.
Tell your Dr. fast if any of these unlikely but severe side effects occur include:
- symptoms of dehydration (e.g., decreased urination, dizziness, extreme thirst, very dry mouth),
- stomach/abdominal pain,
- bloody stools,
- rectal bleeding.
- A severe allergic reaction including
- rash,
- itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat),
- severe dizziness,
- trouble breathing.
- Diarrhea may occur.
If these effects persist or worsens, tell your Dr. fast.

Precautions about Pedia-lax
Before taking Pedia-lax, tell the Dr.if you are anti to it; or if you have any other allergies. This drug may take inactive elements, which can cause anti action or other problems. Talk to your Dr. for more details.
Before using this medicine, tell the Dr. your medical history, especially of:
- kidney disease
- appendicitis or symptoms of appendicitis e.g.
- stomach/abdominal pain
- nausea
- vomiting
- the sudden change in bowel habits that lasts for longer than two weeks
- During pregnancy
- breast-feeding
